      Hello everybody.

I marked all of my tags in a WordPress site as "noindex, follow". Because my tags were made a lot of low-quality pages.

      Am I did it right?

First, check if there are any large files or complex scripts on your site that could be slowing down the crawl; sometimes, heavy JavaScript or poorly optimized images can create issues. Another potential fix is to try pausing the crawl, clearing the cache in your Moz dashboard, and restarting it. You could also double-check your site’s robots.txt to ensure nothing’s accidentally blocking the crawl. If it's still stuck after that, reaching out to Moz support might be the best option—they’re usually pretty quick to help out. Hope you get it sorted soon!" https://templatecalendar.com/

When it comes to optimizing SEO for custom home builders Windsor Ontario, it's essential to focus on high-quality content and avoid indexing unnecessary or duplicate pages, like tag archives, that don't add much value to search engines. If you're managing a WordPress site, you may want to noindex your tags to ensure only the most relevant pages, such as service pages or project portfolios, are prioritized in search results.

Here’s why it matters for a local business like custom home builders Windsor Ontario:

Improves SEO Rankings: Tag archives often contain thin or duplicate content, which can dilute your SEO efforts. By adding a noindex directive to your tag pages, you prevent search engines from crawling and indexing these less important pages, focusing their attention on higher-value content, such as your blog posts, project galleries, or services.

Boosts User Experience: When potential clients search for custom home builders in Windsor, they expect to land on pages that directly address their needs (e.g., home building services, completed projects). Indexed tag pages might not offer this, leading to a poor user experience and higher bounce rates. Using noindex helps keep search results clean and relevant.

How to Add Noindex to Tags in WordPress:

If you use an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO or Rank Math, you can easily apply a noindex setting to tag archives. In Yoast, for instance, you can go to "Search Appearance" > "Taxonomies" and select "No" under "Show Tags in Search Results."
Alternatively, you can add the following line of code to your theme's header.php to noindex tag pages manually
          <?php if (is_tag()) { echo '<meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow">'; } ?>
To Be carefully managing which pages get indexed, you can help search engines focus on ranking the most valuable content, such as project portfolios, blog posts about construction trends, and service offerings, ultimately improving the visibility of custom home builders in Windsor, Ontario.

Hi Danny! It sounds like you made a strategic decision to set your tags as "noindex, follow" to avoid indexing low-quality pages. This approach can help keep your site's SEO intact by preventing search engines from indexing those pages while still allowing them to pass link equity to other pages.

However, it's also important to consider if those tags might provide value in the future or if they can be improved to create higher-quality content. If you find that certain tags are consistently generating valuable traffic or engagement, you might want to revisit them. Overall, it seems like you're on the right track!

yes, but now go the complete way. Get rid of the links to these tags, because you link to stuff you don't want to index, is low quality and i bet not used.  Why sent google there every time?

If they are used you may change your opinion and do something different with the tags - but I saw them and the links, they are not in use i bet.

Sometimes, when a WordPress website is being designed, whether it is an e-commerce or a brochure website, the web designers might write a no index code. This needs to be removed if you want to get that page indexed

@dannybaldwin tag and tag pages aren't worth much in the eyes of google. So it's fine to noindex them (you want to use "noindex, nofollow"). Just ensure Google/Bing can find pages that provide value to users and that you build internal links pointing to these pages.

if your company website can't get crawled and indexed, it will not appear on Google,

so this does needs to be fixed.

We saw this with a company selling luxury summerhouses, and if say pages, blog posts cant get indexed, then can negatively affect the seo.

Help getting a Wordpress.com site to rank

Hi all, I have a blog for my site, but it hasn't been integrated into our site yet (that will happen in the next few months when we do some site changes). For now, it sits on a Wordpress.com site, and links from my website. I post a couple times a week, have social media linked to it, and feed posts to aggregators regularly. I also comment and like other Wordpress.com sites, but it just isn't ranking. Do I just need to stay persistent? It's been up for a month now, but still only getting a few hits a day. Any advice?

The first that jumps into my mind is that Google will index the post but skip my backlink. So, there's no sense in such a bakclink, ringht?

Hi, i would like to know if it is possible to write original content on news on one site and then have it appear on two other sites as an introduction. I am using wordpress so i am very knew to it as i normally use joomla. I am looking for a rss feed that will show the image and allow the intro articles to appear in a category of its own, for example, other news any help would be great

What plugins & tactics are you using for Wordpress meta SEO?

Currently I use All-In-One SEO and I quite like how simple it is to setup and it's stable. Is that still one of the best ones? What are you using these days? Is it worth stripping out the superfluous meta tags that Wordpress now puts in? Is there any value to adding meta descriptions to all my Tag pages and if so, is there a good plugin that will auto magically create unique descriptions for these pages? Same goes for my paginated archives. Thanks!
